One of the oldest and most useful frameworks I’ve come across for thinking about creativity: it isn’t a single spark, it’s a small set of moves, combine, copy, transform and a few others, applied to things that already exist.
I’ve held onto this one longer than most design advice I picked up around the same time, mostly because it holds up: almost everything that reads as original turns out, on inspection, to be a known move applied somewhere unexpected.
