I'm Valon Badivuku. I work on large websites: how they are built, how they are found in search and AI answers, and how they are measured. I've done that for 12 years, most of it on San José State University's websites. I also build my own products, which keeps me honest about what it actually takes to ship something on the web.

Current work

I'm a Web Developer in University Marketing and Communications at San José State University (SJSU). I manage the university's main websites in Modern Campus CMS, which together see 10M+ visitors a year, and I'm responsible for how they perform in search engines, answer engines and AI-generated results. Day to day that means technical SEO, structured data, analytics and reporting for leadership, accessibility (WCAG) and keeping the CMS connected to the marketing tools around it.

Before this role I spent almost nine years as webmaster for SJSU's College of Professional and Global Education. There I led a redesign that consolidated 14 websites into 4, with two vendors and more than 15 stakeholders, after which organic traffic grew 42%. The full history, with dates, is on my resume.

This is my personal site. It doesn't speak for San José State University.

What I specialize in

  • Enterprise web. Running big CMS-based sites: information architecture, governance, migrations and consolidations, vendor work and accessibility.
  • Search. Technical and content SEO at scale, structured data, and making sites readable to AI answer engines (often called AEO and GEO). See my SEO writing.
  • Measurement. GA4, Google Tag Manager, Search Console and dashboards that tell a team what changed and why.
  • Building products. Designing, coding and launching web products myself, from the data model to the pricing page.

What I've built

Schedulera is the product I'm building now: a booking and scheduling platform for consultants and creators, with public booking pages, two-way calendar sync and an AI scheduling assistant. I founded it in 2026 and built the whole stack. It's live at schedulera.com.

Earlier in 2026 I built and launched favURL, which turned a local business's Google Reviews into a landing page. I'm retiring it in November 2026 to focus on Schedulera.

In 2011 I co-founded Qysh Me with Korab Osmanaj. It's an Albanian-language how-to site ("Qysh Me" means "How To") that grew mostly through search, with readers in Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia and the diaspora. Qysh Me was acquired by Dua.com in 2019. I was also one of the founders of ZBRITJE, a Kosovo discounts marketplace that signed up 2,500+ businesses and stayed free for over a decade.

Some of these sites no longer run, so I keep working archives of them in the Playground. Everything else is in Work.

Background

I started in Kosovo, in media before the web. In 2008 I produced, shot and edited Tallava SuperStar, a documentary screened at DokuFest. I helped start Partia e Fortë (the Strong Party), a satirical political party we planned in 2011 and established in 2012, and ran its digital side. That taught me more about audiences than any course. I did technical SEO, performance and analytics work for Kosovo news publishers such as Zeri and Bota Sot, and from 2014 to 2016 I did technical and international SEO for clients at This Communications Company. I joined SJSU in 2017.

I'm also studying Business Administration, with a concentration in entrepreneurship, at SJSU. I write about all of this, old and new, in Writing, and older posts in Albanian are archived in Albanian.
