Web development is the widest topic on this whole list: the fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), the frameworks (React, Vue, Angular), the backend (Node, GraphQL, databases), and the design and freelancing side that turns it into a career. This is the list I keep, grouped so you can find the right channel for wherever you are.
Fundamentals and all-rounders
Traversy Media — Where I send most beginners. Practical, project-driven coverage of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node, and PHP. Broad and genuinely beginner-friendly.
The Net Ninja — Clean, well-sequenced playlists on almost everything: JavaScript, React, Flutter, GraphQL, and more. Excellent when you want a proper start-to-finish series.
Programming with Mosh — Polished, structured tutorials across frontend and backend. Good if you like a calm, organised teaching style.
Fireship — Fast, dense, and entertaining. “100 Seconds of Code” is perfect for quickly understanding what a technology is before you commit to learning it.
CSS and design
Kevin Powell — The CSS specialist. If you struggle with Grid, Flexbox, or responsive layouts, his channel is the fix.
Flux — Web design and the freelancing business around it: finding clients, case studies, and running the work as an actual job.
DesignCourse and Dev Ed — UI/UX and design-focused development, blending visual design with the code to build it.
Layout Land, CSS Animation, and Red Stapler — Focused CSS: modern layout, animation, and tips and tricks.
React and modern JavaScript
Codevolution — Deep, methodical React (and hooks, Redux, Formik) series. The channel for when you want to really understand React, not just copy it.
JavaScript Mastery — Ambitious, portfolio-worthy React projects. Great once the basics click and you want something impressive to build.
Academind — Thorough React, Vue, and AWS courses with clear explanations of the “why.”
techsith, Florin Pop, Brian Design, and Harry Wolff — More React and JavaScript, from array methods to full builds and TypeScript.
Backend, fullstack, and advanced
Hitesh Choudhary — Frontend and backend together, including Docker, MongoDB, and Vue crash courses.
Raw Coding — Serious ASP.NET and .NET web development.
Jason Lengstorf and swyx — Modern fullstack, JAMstack, GraphQL, and serverless, from two people deep in that ecosystem.
LevelUpTuts and LearnCode.academy — CMS work, design, and JavaScript frameworks including the MEAN stack.
Creative and specialised
Yuri Artyukh — Live creative coding with WebGL, Three.js, and shaders. Advanced, but mesmerising.
Dani Krossing — Solid HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript fundamentals for beginners.
Punit Chawla, Coding Garden, Thomas Bradley, Omatum, and DevTips — Design tools, live coding, accessibility and performance, and long-form project streams.
If you are starting from zero: Traversy Media or The Net Ninja for the fundamentals, Kevin Powell the moment CSS frustrates you, then Codevolution when you are ready for React. Build and ship something small at every stage.
